

Sheriff Ed Graybeal's Biography |

| Sheriff Ed Graybeal was born in Richmond, VA, in 1949. In 1979, he and his family moved to Washington County. He is married to Connie Graybeal, and has two children and three grandchildren. In 1980, Sheriff Graybeal began his career with the Sheriff's Office as an officer in the patrol division. In 1981, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and in 1991, to the rank of Lieutenant. Since that time, he has held the positions of Captain, Major, and Chief Deputy. In January, 2003, Ed Graybeal was appointed Sheriff by a unanimous vote of the Washington County Commission. Since that time, he has continued to strive to bring the citizens of Washington County the highest level of service possible. Sheriff Graybeal is a graduate of the TN Law Enforcement Training Academy at Donelson, TN. He has attended classes at both East Tennessee State University and Walter State Community College. During the years of 1969 & 1970, Ed Graybeal served as a Platoon Sergeant in the U.S. Army Infantry Division in Vietnam and Cambodia. He was awarded the following service awards.
